Last week, we replaced our legacy test services at https://test.k6.io, https://test-api.k6.io, https://httpbin.test.k6.io and https://grpcbin.test.k6.io with a new and improved one:
https://quickpizza.grafana.com.
What:
These test services are only provided to help users quickly run documentation examples — they’re not part of the core Grafana k6 OSS or Grafana k6 Cloud platforms.
Why:
These services had become outdated and carried a number of critical security issues, so it was important to decommission them. Unifying all test services into a single one also significantly simplifies the maintenance aspect for us. Over the years, these services have started to experience a very high amount of network traffic, so maintenance is doubly challenging.
What happens now:
- All examples that point to one of the decommissioned test services in our documentation now automatically redirect to quickpizza.grafana.com.
- We are still in the process of removing references to test.k6.io in our Grafana k6 OSS documentation.
Help us spread the word:
If you happen to spot any outdated references — whether in our docs or out in the wild, like in third party courses or tutorials on popular learning platforms — give us a heads-up. Kindly letting the third party content creators know (e.g. in the comments section of their video or course) about the new quickpizza.grafana.com service would be a small gesture with a big impact. It helps ensure others don’t run into confusion, and your help in spreading the word is truly appreciated.
